My name is Twyla Jackson. I have been a registered nurse for over 17 years. Unlike many, nursing was not a lifelong dream but I am where I am supposed to be. I actually joined the United States Army after graduating from high school. I was a soldier for 6 years. Hooah! Shortly before receiving my Honorable Discharge, I met a fellow soldier who was a 68D. That is a Surgical Technologist. I was so intrigued by her job, I decided to pursue it. I received a 2-year degree in Applied Science and became a Certified Surgical Technologist. Six years later, I went back to school and received my nursing degree. It is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

I have been an operating room nurse throughout my nursing career. Like with many nursing specialties, most people know very little about what it is that an operating room nurse, and the role we play during surgical procedures. My goal is to educate you on the various nursing specialties and the different nursing programs.

Hopefully, with this information, you will be encouraged to pursue nursing as a profession (or at least consider).
